Meet Riley. She is four years old, the middle child in her family, and her favorite color is green. She is getting ready for kindergarten and is discovering how fun and meaningful learning can be. Riley is just the first of many learners we hope to support. Rooted Scholars is designed to bring this same approach to children of all ages, connecting learning to family, culture, identity, and everyday life.
We believe learning is most powerful when it is rooted in who children are. That is what we mean by culturally responsive learning. It is learning that reflects the world children know, their families, their culture, and their everyday experiences. Our resources do more than teach. They connect with children through stories, music, projects, and experiences that happen at home and in daily life. Education grows naturally when it happens in the kitchen, on the way to school, and during the small moments that make up every day.
